For some people, a holiday without down time may be the best way to blow away the stresses and pressures of everyday life, writes Carolyn Boyd. Beauty beyond belief . . . a bushwalker looks out over Dove Lake from Cradle Mountain. Photo: Tourism Tasmania/Grant Dixon FANCY climbing a mountain or diving with sharks? Rest and relaxation don't have to mean taking it easy -- sometimes the best way to wind down is to take it up a notch and blow the stress away. Golf Hyatt Regency Coolum The lush green course is one of the first things that greets you as you drive into the Hyatt. It's known for its magnificent PGA championship golf course but the popular getaway offers the complete package with nine swimming pools and seven tennis courts. There is bike riding, archery, canoeing, kite flying or beach fishing on the Hyatt's private beach. A kids' club makes it a popular choice for families. And if you want to put your feet up for a while, there's a spa and creative arts centre. Rooms from $240 a night. See coolum.regency.hyatt.com. Cypress Lakes Resort When you are not playing golf, swimming or getting fit in the gym at this Hunter Valley resort, there are bicycles on hand to cycle around the nearby wineries. There's a kids' club for 3- to 13 year-olds. From $225 a night. See cypresslakes.com.au. Hiking Cradle Mountain Huts It's hard to believe there's a place so beautiful as Tasmania's World Heritage Area. On a six-day trek of the 65-kilometre Overland Track, you'll take in some breathtaking scenery. From spectacular dolerite mountains to beautiful waterfalls, the ecosystems you trek through continuously change. There are two options for doing the Overland Track. You can trek under your own steam, carry your own bags and sleeping equipment, and stay in the public huts provided by the Parks & Wildlife Service for $160 an adult. Bookings are essential and you will also need to pay a park entry fee. See parks.tas.gov.au. The second option is to go upmarket with Cradle Mountain Huts. They lighten the load with guides, a cooked evening meal and a warm bed each night. See cradlehuts.com.au. From $2550 for the guided walk. Yoga and surfing Broulee Broulee Surf School offers three-day learn-to-surf getaways at Broulee on the south coast, or Moffat Beach in Queensland.
