Any one of these exclusive spa resorts could be just the place to get it, writes Keeli Cambourne. Melting moments . . . (left to right) Wolgan Valley Resort sustains the environment as well as its guests; the spa at Lilianfels has a wide range of treatments. Taking time out to revitalise and relax is made even more special when you're surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Blue Mountains. Whether you're looking for a weekend of indulgence or an hour of pampering, the spa resorts have something to suit all your needs. Here are some of the best. Wolgan Valley Resort This Emirates-brand resort is one of Australia's most environmentally responsible, incorporating sustainable building principles, such as rainwater collection and the full recycling of all domestic water. There's also energy-efficient light bulbs, heat-exchange technology to reduce electricity consumption and the use of solar panels for all hot- water systems. But it's the pampering you'll come for. The resort's Timeless Spa offers treatments that draw on the wisdom of Middle Eastern and south-east Asian aromatherapy traditions. An exclusive range of natural products based on indigenous ingredients is used, as well as Australia's organic Sodashi range and the restorative products of leading spa brand Babor of Germany. If you are looking for more than pampering, there are also two outdoor tennis courts, a fully equipped gym with personal trainers, a plunge pool in each guest suite and a large communal pool with spa, sauna and steam room. Lilianfels Resort & Spa Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort is perched on the edge of a cliff with amazing views. It's a five-star hotel housed in a historic country mansion and is surrounded by almost one hectare of manicured gardens. The 85 guest rooms are outfitted in crisp cottons and organza. After enjoying a tasty meal from Darley's restaurant, guests can indulge in the resort's on-site spa, which has an extensive range of treatments on its menu. Enjoy its signature natural product range, created locally by iKOU, or you can opt for products by luxury spa brand Payot from France. A number of packages are available, from facials to body wraps right through to the ultimate four- hour Lilianfels Retreat, which includes a body polish and body wrap, aroma relaxation massage, a Payot premium facial and volcanic- stone foot therapy. The Mountain Heritage With only 41 rooms and suites, The Mountain Heritage offers guests an intimate resort and spa experience. The 41G2-star hotel and spa retreat has luxurious accommodation with panoramic views, all just a few minutes' walk from Katoomba's town centre. The resort is sited in a fully restored Federation house, with high ceilings, polished hardwood floors and a large wraparound verandah. Its Spa Sublime has four couples' rooms and all products are Australian made and owned, including Pelactiv, which is formulated from Australian plant extracts. For an even more personalised touch, the beauty therapists individually tailor and create the body-wrap treatments to each client's needs. Fairmont Resort This facility may not be the first place that springs to mind for resort spa treatments and weekends but since it was put under new management in February last year, there have been many changes. As well as offering health and fitness facilities, including access to the 18-hole Leura Golf Course, the resort offers a range of spa treatments by appointment. Treatments include massages and facials. Pevonia and Dermalogica products are used for body wraps, massages and other treatments. SPECIAL REPORT
