MorningHerald Tuesday, May 10, 2011 11 Outdoor outlooks . . . (clockwise from far left) The Boathouse at Palm Beach; Solitary Restaurant views, Katoomba; Summer Salt; Berowra Waters Inn. Photo: Stephen Bacon Bondi remains a popular drawcard for scene-stealing vistas and includes the beachfront North Bondi Italian Food, where the toned, tanned and trendy congregate, while upstairs at the North Bondi RSL Club, the vibe is more down to earth. Order a cheap steak, nab a table on the balcony and watch the breakers peel on to the sand. Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, with its sensational position above the world-famous beach, is the place to take visitors from overseas, or perhaps they could be treated to prawns and a beer at the harbourside Watsons Bay Hotel. To escape the city limits, catch the seaplane from Rose Bay to Cottage Point Inn Restaurant on the Hawkesbury River in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, or Berowra Waters Inn, one of Australia's pioneering restaurants in a bushland setting. Or head to the Blue Mountains, where Solitary Restaurant at Katoomba looks out across the Jamison Valley. In Sydney's southern beachside suburbs, Summer Salt's superb perch above Elouera Surf Life Saving Club overlooks Cronulla Beach and the relaxed Nuns' Pool is opposite Shelly Park. Also within a stone's throw of the waves is Zimzala. Heading west, the vista includes peaceful views of Brays Bay at the Italian restaurant Oliveto in Rhodes. Woolwich Pier Hotel, on the Parramatta River, has a bistro, beer garden and balcony dining. There is riverside dining -- inside and out -- at the historic and renovated Port Bar Restaurant, Parramatta. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and caters for children. Catch the ferry to Cabarita and choose between Sanders Waterfront Restaurant, on the Parramatta River, or the tranquil Angelos on the Bay. A ferry to Abbotsford lands you at Dedes Bar & Grill in the Sydney Rowing Club. Sit on the deck, breathe the fresh air and order the signature hot-and-cold seafood platter. a view good living h
